Treatment begins with an application of a topical numbing cream. While you lie comfortably, the esthetician moves a handheld device over the skin. This device utilizes precisely spaced micro-needles in a small cartridge to create invisible vertical micro-perforations into the epidermis and the top layer of the dermis. As a result, the skin shifts its natural repair mechanism into high gear and starts producing collagen and elastin to repair these micro-perforations. The self-repairing property of the skin is a 100% natural form of skin renewal from the inside out.
The advantage of the MicroNeedling (or Collagen Induction Therapy, as it also known) compared to other treatments is that it not only activates cell regeneration, it also enhances the absorption of active ingredients. Your skin becomes firmer and regains its elasticity, fine lines and wrinkles are visibly reduced, pores become finer, circulation is stimulated and the overall condition of the skin improves. After the treatment, topicals best suited to your skin type (or PRP) will be applied, taking advantage of the micro-channels to achieve deep penetration. Immediately following treatment, the skin has a dewy glow.
The process of skin remodeling continues for several weeks or months after each session, but visible changes can be seen within about 7 days. Your skin automatically renews itself every 30-40 days, so with a few sessions, changes can be dramatic. For most clients we recommend a series of 2 to 3 treatments spaced four to six weeks apart. For skin with deep wrinkles, lots of sun damage, acne or other scars, 6 to 8 treatments are recommended.
Because MicroNeedling stimulates the growth of collagen, you will continue to see improvements up to six months after treatment as the collagen production continues. That’s great news! Collagen gives skin its elasticity and firmness so anything you can do perk up its production is well worth the effort.
Although most commonly used on the face, anywhere there are acne or other scars, stretch marks or uneven pigmentation will benefit from MicroNeedling. With the use of an effective topical numbing cream, this treatment doesn’t cause much discomfort and best of all, the downtime is minimal with most clients returning to normal activities within 24 to 48 hours. The entire treatment including numbing takes less than an hour, depending on size of the area treated.
A MicroNeedling treatment on the face costs $300. The principle behind MicroNeedling is the same as the Fraxel Laser, but at a fraction of the cost. That makes this a very effective and affordable way to achieve results you will love. We welcome your inquiries about this treatment.
